Oasis

The concept for “Oasis” rises primarily from the desire to develop a dwelling that despite being located in an ultra modern context, portrays an identity which in concept speaks a historically traditional language. Having all the necessary functions while bringing forth a peaceful, slow paced and uncluttered feeling for the users. Creating an atmosphere with little distractions, allowing users to fully detach from daily stresses. A mental and spiritual oasis located within a fast paced city. Numerous functionalities are located at a “sunken” level which has been created for majority of the property. This, alongside the use of thick walls for this level provides a pleasurably colder environment during the warmer months. Rotating panels on this floor have been intalled as shutters. The upper floor contains the family’s bedrooms and is is surrounded entirely by a perforated wall, providing essential ventilation. A wall has been located between the swimming pool and a water feature in the sunken courtyard, providing privacy from the beach for majority of the courtyard. The walls surrounding the courtyard are all provided with drains for potential rises in water levels, ensuring the longevity of the dwelling. The entire dwelling is accessible for users with impaired mobility as every bedroom is catered for them and the entire structure can be reached through ramps and an elevator.
