Villa Panza Artist House

The Villa Panza Artist House is designed to be a temporary house for artists to reside in while collaborating with an art gallery located in the Villa. During the periods of collaboration, the artist will be able to live within the designed space and will be able to expose works through three exhibitions. Two outdoor ones and one indoor. For the visitors, the project intends to be a walk through the visible and invisible, where users decide how the building reveals itself. When entering the site, users will be met by a wall which will prevent them from seeing the artist house. After a 10 step walk, the users will then be faced with a choice, either crossing a bridge or walking down a series of steps. This choice will influence how the house reveals itself. By crossing the bridge, users will initially be met by the view of the house, which through a hidden structure, at that specific angle, will appear to be levitating. Thus, the revealing its invisible aspect. Users will then cross the bridge and will be met by a direct view on the beams supporting the structure, thus revealing the visible. Users choosing the steps will experience the house in an inversed manner, first seeing the visible structure and later experiencing the invisible, a floating house. The structure achieves its ability to float through the use of three beams driven into the ground, supporting the cantilever. Referring to accessibility, disabled users will be able to experience the project in its entirety through the use of an elevator. The dwelling follows the visible and invisible concept. When entering, the artist will be met by what will appear as a large rectangular wooden box filling the space, with no furniture. This box will be referred to as a functional mass. The user will be able to transform the entire dwelling by revealing the different functionalities in this mass. Revealing the bed will transform the entire dwelling into the bedroom while revealing the kitchen and desk will transform the entire room into the said kitchen. A bathroom is located in this mass, the shower within this bathroom will cover it in its entirety while the toilet will be able to transform into a bench . Some functionalities are intended to both open manually and electrically in order to serve users with different needs
